Photovoltaic carports

Rolling out photovoltaic carports on sites that never close

Illustration: photovoltaic carports over rows of cars in a car park

Managing the roll-out of photovoltaic carports on the car parks of a major retail group, all over France — on sites that never close.

The context

Covering car parks with solar panels: local electricity, and shade for customers. The carports are built and operated by an external operator; our role is to make it work in the best conditions and to protect the group's interests.

Two complementary roles

Aliss, project manager

She manages a portfolio of around one hundred sites, from the first study to operation:

  • operator meetings and reporting;
  • site layout and legal aspects (leases, co-ownership general meetings);
  • scheduling, alerts and recovery plans.

Wael, works coordinator

On the ground, he moves the works forward without disrupting sites open to the public:

  • phasing agreed with site operations;
  • site visits and daily reporting;
  • quality, safety and schedule, site by site.

What makes the difference

The difficulty is not technical, it is organisational: dozens of sites in parallel, each with its own constraints. Three keys: rigorous project management, coordination of every stakeholder, and phased works to keep customers safe.
